OUR PHILOSOPHY

"Practice makes perfect"-- an adage as old as it is true.

It's not enough that students understand the rules of a language; they must be able to apply them in real time if they are to achieve fluency. This is why at "Spanish at Last" we stress active participation over the more passive methods of our competitors. 

There is a crucial difference between simply learning a language and actually speaking it. Our teaching methods are based on achieving a deep understanding of the subject matter rather than learning through repetition and memorization. I understand that every language follows its own unique model. It is imperative that students not only understand these concepts, but that the protocols of this new language actually become part of their thought process. To this end, every new concept is introduced in a manner that is both understandable and practical. Every theory introduced is followed by a healthy amount of examples and exercises that help anchor these new concepts.

Practicing and speaking outside of class is essential! We all have obstacles that prevent us from succeeding. Being hesitant to engage someone in a new language is a natural fear. I discuss ways of overcoming this fear and how to introduce Spanish into your daily routine.  My emphasis on "learning by doing” is at the core of what makes this program successful.
